Badger Storybox

Past Pieces

“The Badger” Storybox, set inside a gorgeous distressed wooden chest box lid, probably a tea caddy, circa late 1700’s, early 1800’s. As some point, a previous owner has removed all the metal work from it. I have left it as such, as it is all part of it’s story. There is a little decorative early 1900’s handle to the top, and the storybox sits on tiny wooden turned feet, which are the top of lace bobbins c. late 1800’s. Inside, the stunning badger embroidery is c. 1930’s. The poem is printed and wire sculpted, and written by Emily Dickinson. There is a lovely piece of green velvet to the bottom, c. 1930’s, from a scarf, and the cowslips are fashioned from tiny pieces of antique lace from a dress sleeve, c. late 1800’s.
