Fishing Storybox

Past Pieces

This is one of my Fishing storyboxes, which was made for a wedding anniversary present. The tin is a vintage fly fishing case, c.1930’s, with vintage flies inside. They are removable, and still useable. The main body of the box is backed with intricately embroidered flowers from chenille and silk, c. late 1800’s (originally from a curtain) The fish is c. 1860’s, and is Japanese, embroidered in silk and metallic thread. Behind the fish is a piece of duck egg blue sash ribbon, c.1900. The waves are formed from tiny 3mm 1920’s silk ribbon. All the text is printed on to vintage cream raw silk. The fly, next to the fish is a genuine vintage fly also.
