“Windmills”, Storybox Sculpture

The lyrics in this storybox are from “Windmills of your mind”. by the late Noel Harrison, which originally featured in the wonderful award winning film “The Thomas Crown Affair”. It is all set inside a lovely 1930’s wooden drawer. The feet are little painted red beads from an early 1900’s abacus. The windmill scene is a watercolour, dated on the rear to 1908. The words are typed on to tiny pieces of vintage silk dress sash ribbon, circa early 1900, and then hand-sewn on to the paper. The grass is c. 1920’s homespun hemp, which I have dyed, and the tiny buttercups I have made from wire and acrylic paint. The running rabbit is c.1930’s, and is painted metal. The beautiful little girl was originally a German dolls house doll, and has a painted metal head, hands and feed, with a wound fabric and wire body. She is circa 1950’s. She is holding her own little windmill. This I have made from a 1920’s glass button. The windmill will actually spin if you flick it.  The whole storybox measures 22cm high, by 18cm wide, and 5.5cm deep.

Please note my sculptures are not suitable for children.
