“The Frog Prince” Storybox Sculpture, £395

Past Pieces

This is The Frog Prince Storybox, in all his splendour!

Featuring a wonderful German Schuco frog, c. 1930 – originally mechanical, but sadly no longer. The crown I have hand-crafted with wire, and vintage Victorian glass beads. The frog Prince sits upon a 1930’s velvet cushion, with a real golden ball (gold-leaf on a vintage 1930’s glass bead), and next to him sits his little friend, fly, who is formed from wire. The French embroidery is c.1910, and originally from an unfinished tablecloth. It is all set inside a velvet boudoir box, circa mid 1800’s. The feet are parts of vintage 1930’s chess pieces, which have also been gold-leafed. The words “Someday my prince will come” are formed from wire on the inside of the lid, sitting on top of the original beautifully preserved pink silk.

(The whole box, when closed, measures 13.5cm wide, 20cm tall, and 10 cm deep).

It is £395 plus postage.
