“Pretty Horses”, moving Storybox SculpturePast Pieces
Set inside a beautiful Victorian (late 1800’s) wooden cribbage box, “All the Pretty Little Horses” Storybox features the most beautiful lithographed antique, circa 1890’s/1900’s, toy horse, which rocks on it’s wooden base. There is a little round handle at the back of the box, which, when you twist it, rocks the horse back and forth. The silk embroidery is all c.1900, from an ecclesiastical hymn book bag. The stunning peachy pink silk is the interior of the same bag. The words are from the poem/lullaby “Pretty little horses”, and reads ‘when you wake, you shall have all the pretty little horses”. It is typewritten on to silk, and hand-sewn.
