“The Eagle” Storybox, £285Latest Pieces for Sale
“The Eagle” Storybox features a stunning Watercolour, painted in 1884, combined with printed lines from “The Eagle” By Alfred, Lord Tennyson, which is all hand-stitched. The Eagle itself is c. 1900, possibly made by Putz, and is composition (painted plaster and metal). He is sitting on a tree which I have made from a piece of local Devon driftwood, and pieces of 1930’s velvet millinery. Silk ribbon runs around the inside edge, c. 1910. The box is late Victorian (late 1800’s), and is decorated with some wonderful pyrography. It stands on 4 little ball feet, which are pawn heads from a vintage wooden chess set. It measures 19cm wide by 15.5 cm high.
It is £285, plus postage.
