“The Flowers” StoryboxPast Pieces
“The flowers” storybox is set in the most beautiful vintage tin, which features poppies all over the front (picture to follow). The tin is in two separate parts, but the lid will balance on the top, if you wish to display it as I have in the photo. The bee I have hand-painted and embellished with tiny stitches from vintage silk threads. His wings are made from antique Victorian petticoat net. The spotty fabric is silk, and is a tiny fragment from a Georgian crazy quilt, circa 1800. In the main body of the tin, the fabulous green smocked silk in brilliant green, is also from the same Georgian quilt. The spectacular big poppy head is a vintage carved brooch, circa early 1900’s, and the bud beside it is formed from a vintage glass bead. The quote is by Emily Dickinson.
When standing as displayed in the photo it measures 85mm x 100mm.
