“Believe”, Fairy Storybox Sculpture
This design is set around the stunning antique lily of the valley picture frame, which is painted lead, and circa 1900. I extracted the front frame panel only, and in turn, attached it to the early 1900’s wooden and leather box that makes up the body of the sculpture. The fairy is circa 1930’s, and is a lead figure that I have added wings to. She rotates on her little pedestal, dancing to the tune of Hushabye Mountain. She sits atop a midnight blue wood and leather box base (an adapted Victorian jewellery box drawer), which houses the musical mechanism. To the front is a vintage brass drawer plaque, in which the words “Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”, by Roald Dahl, are typed on to green antique taffeta silk. The whole sculpture sits atop 4 Georgian carved bone legs, circa 1800, which were originally parts of chess pieces. To the rear are also two sculpted drop headed tiny flowers, It is a one-off unique piece that can’t be replicated. It is rather a special little thing, and stands at a mere 16cm tall. I hope it will bring a little piece of magic to whoever goes on to own it.
PLEASE NOTE – this sculpture is currently with a gallery, If you wish to purchase it, please email me, and I can arrange that for you.
